QGC to Open New Information Center, Australia>> LNG World News

QGC to Open New Information Center

QGC is increasing the accessibility of coal seam gas information with the opening this Saturday, 3 November, of a new community centre at the Bell Street shopping centre in Chinchilla. The centre has been designed to provide residents of Chinchilla and surrounding towns with a central location for information about QGC and the Queensland Curtis LNG Project (QCLNG).

Vice President Sustainability Brett Smith said QGC was providing an environment in which people could learn. ?QGC has a great team of people who live and work in the local community to explain what?s involved in producing coal seam gas,? Mr Smith said.

?Now they have a space and information at their disposal with which to help people to gain a better understanding of our business.??

About $1 million was spent with Surat Basin tradespeople on the five-month project to fit out the community centre.

Information panels and an interactive display kiosk provide information about QCLNG, which involves increasing coal seam gas exploration and development in the Surat Basin; building a 540km underground pipeline network to Gladstone; and construction of a liquefied natural gas plant at Curtis Island, off Gladstone.

The centre-piece of the community centre is a rug that shows Chinchilla at the centre of a map of the region.

Trans fats raise cholesterol, not blood sugar: study

(Reuters) - Although much-criticized trans fats raise levels of "bad" cholesterol, they don't appear to have a lasting impact on blood sugar levels, according to a U.S. study.

Researchers, writing in The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, found that both blood sugar and insulin, the hormone that keeps blood sugar levels in check, were similar regardless of how much trans fat people ate.

The link between trans fats and high cholesterol levels is widely accepted, but there has been a lack of clarity on the effect on blood sugar control, which is involved in diabetes.

"Although evidence from cohort studies has suggested that trans fatty acid (TFA) consumption may be associated with insulin resistance and diabetes, randomized placebo-controlled trials have yielded conflicting results," wrote lead researcher Christos Mantzoros of Harvard Medical School in Boston.

Trans fats, technically known as trans fatty acids, are found in animal products and chemically processed vegetable oils. In response to studies linking high consumption of the substances to an increased risk of heart disease, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has required food makes to disclose trans fats on nutrition labels.

Some cities and states have banned them in restaurants or schools.

Montzoros and his colleagues pooled the results from seven experiments, including 208 people.

In five of the studies, the participants' blood sugar, insulin and cholesterol levels were monitored for several weeks under a diet of high trans fat consumption, and again for a few weeks when the trans fats were substituted for other fats, such as palm or soybean oil.

Two of the studies compared people who ate a diet that included trans fats to others who ate a diet without trans fats.

There were no changes in blood sugar or insulin levels during the times when people ate trans fats, compared to when they ate the other fats," Mantzoros's group reported.

However, the researchers found that during the trans fat-eating weeks, "good" HDL cholesterol went down and "bad" LDL cholesterol went up.

"They saw what you would expect to see" regarding cholesterol, which shows that the studies were well done, said Mark Pereira, an expert in public health and nutrition at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis.

Pereira, who was not involved in the study, said it isn't definitive proof that trans fats can't influence blood sugar levels.

Although several weeks is enough time to see an effect on cholesterol, he said, a potential impact on metabolism might not show up until later.

"If you're going to control weight and switch around fats in the diet, it might take a lot longer, because these fatty acids are being gradually incorporated over time into tissues in the body," he added.

But even if trans fats do have an impact on blood sugar control, Pereira said, it's becoming a moot point as the amount of trans fats people eat in the United States has diminished considerably.

Shoot paintballs to deflect asteroids, save civilization

3 hrs.

A well-timed volley of paintballs may be all that?s needed to deflect an asteroid off a collision course with Earth, according to a graduate student with an apparent penchant for the paint-filled pellets.

The paintballs would be fired in two rounds to ensure coverage of the asteroid in a coat of white. The initial force from the pellets? impact would bump the space rock off course; then, over time, the bouncing of the sun?s photons off the white surface would deflect the asteroid even more.

The concept is the brain child of Sung Wook Paek, a graduate student in the space sciences at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. It took first prize in the 2012 Move an Asteroid Technical Paper Competition, ?which is sponsored by the United Nations? Space Generation Advisory Council.

The concept adds to a list of ideas about how to prevent an asteroid from hitting Earth and sending humans the way of the dinosaurs. Other proposals include punching the space rock with a projectile to steer it off course and using a so-called gravity tractor to haul it to a new orbit.

The paintball concept builds on a proposal to bombard an asteroid with solid pellets. Paek figured adding paint to the pellets would take advantage of the sun?s radiation pressure. Such photon force has been shown to alter the course of Earth-orbiting satellites, for example.

The video below illustrates the concept.

Paek modeled the concept on the asteroid Apophis, a 27-gigaton rock that?s about 1,480 feet wide. It may pass close to Earth in 2029 and again in 2036. To deflect it using the paintball technique would require five tons of paint splattered on the asteroid about 20-years in advance of Earth impact.

One hurdle to implementation of the paintball theory is getting a ready supply of the projectiles into space. The violent shaking experienced during liftoff in a traditional rocket may rupture the payload of paintballs, Paek noted.?

An alternative is to make the balls on the International Space Station, which opens the real possibility of scientists on board donning protective gear and shooting paint pellets at each other for a little fun while saving human civilization.

DNA-Swap Technology Almost Ready for Fertility Clinic

Mitochondrial transfer technology to shuffle genetic material between unfertilized eggs could help reduce the risk of childhood diseases

mitochondria, reproductive health, reproductive medicine, mitochondrial dna Image: National Heart Lung and Blood Institute

    From Nature magazine

Researchers say that technology to shuffle genetic material between unfertilized eggs is ready to make healthy babies. The technique could allow parents to minimize the risk of a range of diseases related to defects in the energy-producing cell organelles known as mitochondria.

Mitochondrial defects affect an estimated 1 in 4,000 children, and can cause rare and often fatal diseases such as carnitine deficiency, which prevents the body from using fats for energy.

They are also implicated in a wide range of more common diseases affecting children and adults, such as multiple sclerosis and Parkinson?s disease. Mitochondria have their own DNA and are inherited only from the mother, so replacing defective mitochondria in eggs from mothers who have a high risk of passing on such diseases could spare the children.

Three years ago, a team led by Shoukhrat Mitalipov, a reproductive biologist at Oregon Health and Science University in Beaverton, created eggs with donor mitochondria that developed into healthy rhesus monkeys (Macaca mulatta). Today, the same team reports the creation of human embryos in which all of the mitochondria come from a donor. The method needs to be tweaked to increase efficiency and gain regulatory clearance, but it is ready for the clinic, says Mitalipov. ?You can expect the first healthy child to be born [using this method] within three years.?

    Mix and match
Just as they did with the monkeys, Mitalipov and his colleagues removed the nucleus from an unfertilized egg, leaving behind all of that cell?s mitochondria, and injected it into another unfertilized egg that had had its nucleus removed. They then fertilized the egg in vitro.

In the previous experiment, the team proved in convincing fashion that the fertilized monkey eggs were good ? by implanting them in uteri, where they produced four healthy offspring. To evaluate the results with human cells, the researchers had to settle for developing the embryos to the blastocyst stage ? a ball of about 100 cells. They used cells from the blastocysts to produce embryonic cell lines, and then carrying out various tests on them. The cells looked like those from normal embryos, but with mitochondria exclusively from the donor.

David Thorburn, a specialist in the genetics of mitochondrial disorders at the University of Melbourne in Australia, is ?surprised and impressed? by the work. He is particularly happy that the team followed up the monkeys to track any long-term effects of the DNA transfer. None have been seen. Mitalipov?s group also used monkey cells to show that the technique works with eggs that have been frozen ? something that will be crucial in the clinic.

Thorburn is not convinced that the technology is ripe for clinical use. He would like to see more data from the monkeys, including whether animals bred using the technique can successfully have their own babies, and more data on possible abnormalities that can arise during development in both the monkey and human embryos.

But if it does move forward, there will be ?hundreds of families worldwide wanting to make use of the technology? each year, he says.

    Egg anomalies
Mitalipov agrees that mysteries remain. Some 50% of the human eggs underwent abnormal fertilization, in which excess maternal nuclear DNA remained ? a problem seen much less frequently in the monkeys or in controls. ?It looks like human oocytes are more sensitive,? he says. Mitalipov hypothesizes that ?incomplete meiosis? ? splitting of the cells ? caused the problem, and he is now tweaking the method. But even so, some 20% of the eggs produced embryos that would have been suitable for transfer to the uterus.

White House told of Libyan attack claim Sept. 11 - KTRE.com | Lufkin ...

    By LARRY MARGASAK
    Associated Press

WASHINGTON (AP) - Two hours after the U.S. Consulate came under attack in Benghazi, Libya, the White House was told that a militant group was claiming responsibility for the violence that killed the U.S. ambassador and three other Americans.

A State Department email sent to intelligence officials and the White House situation room said the Islamist group Ansar al-Sharia claimed responsibility on Facebook and Twitter, and also called for an attack on the U.S. Embassy in Tripoli.

The document may fuel Republican efforts to show that the White House knew it was a terrorist attack, even as the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations was saying - five days afterward - that it appeared to be a protest gone awry.

The Obama administration's account of the Benghazi events has become a campaign issue, with Republican challenger Mitt Romney and GOP lawmakers accusing the White House of misleading Americans about the nature of the attack.

The Associated Press and other news organizations obtained the unclassified email and two related emails from government officials who requested anonymity because they were not authorized to speak about them publicly.

Meanwhile, the Tunisian government said it has arrested a 28-year-old Tunisian linked to the U.S. Consulate attack. Interior Ministry spokesman Tarrouch Khaled said Wednesday that the suspect, Ali Harzi, was in custody in Tunis. Khaled told The AP "his case is in the hands of justice," but did not elaborate.

Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton said Wednesday that the review board she appointed to investigate the attack is "looking at everything," rather than "cherry picking one story here or one document there."

White House press secretary Jay Carney said the emails represented just one piece of information the administration was receiving at the time.

"There were emails about all sorts of information that was becoming available in the aftermath of the attack," Carney said. "The whole point of an intelligence community and what they do is to assess strands of information and make judgments about what happened and who is responsible."

Carney, traveling with President Barack Obama Wednesday on Air Force One, said the emails were unclassified and referred to assertions made on a social media site.

There were a series of three emails sent by State Department officials in Washington as events unfolded on Sept. 11. Among the recipients was the White House situation room.

The first email said that the State Department's regional security officer reported the mission in Benghazi was under attack, and that "20 armed people fired shots." It said that Ambassador Chris Stevens, who was killed in the attack, was in Benghazi, and that Stevens and four others were in the compound's safe haven.

Forty-nine minutes later, an email said that the firing at the consulate "has stopped and the compound has been cleared," while a response team was attempting to locate people.

The next message, one hour and 13 minutes after the second and some two hours after the attack began, a message reported that Ansar-al-Sharia claimed responsibility for the attack.

"Embassy Tripoli reports the group claimed responsibility on Faceboook and Twitter and has called for an attack on Embassy Tripoli," it said.

Ansar al-Sharia bragged to members of al-Qaida in the Islamic Maghreb that it was responsible for the attack, according to recordings of phone calls intercepted by U.S. intelligence. But the group has publicly denied having anything to do with the attack.

Clinton, speaking to reporters at the State Department, said, "You know, posting something on Facebook is not in and of itself evidence and I think it just underscores how fluid the reporting was at the time and continued some time to be."

She added, "What I keep in mind is that four brave Americans were killed and we will find out what happened, we will take whatever measures are necessary to fix anything that needs to be fixed and we will bring those to justice who committed these murders."

How do you choose the ideal getaway for your ... - John Proctor Travel

Of course you know you want something romantic, peaceful, idyllic?but how about the experience? A great holiday should make for great memories and your honeymoon for the best of them all. So, unless you?re dead set on visiting the Maldives or getting married in Vegas, here are our top 5 experience destinations for a honeymoon to remember:

    1. If You Crave A Tropical Beach?

Try Panama?s Caribbean coastline for white sand archipelagos, two Dollar pina coladas, secluded palm islands and rich indigenous culture. The Bocas del Toro and San Blas Island groups are both stunning with plenty of sunset bars and romantic hideaways. Both regions lie a short plane transfer from Panama City; To reach San Blas you can also take jeep through the rainforest and a short lancha boat journey to reach the autonomous, Kuna territory of palm fringed isles; For Bocas take the highway and a speedboat for a choice of lonely beaches and Caribbean cocktails.

    2. For wildlife and the great outdoors?

Canada?s British Colombia provides the essential ingredients with awe inspiring scenery, forest walks to hidden waterfalls and close encounters with some of nature?s most majestic creatures. The hub of Vancouver is a city for everyone with its beaches, parks, restaurants and entertainment and then ride the daily helicopter flight to Vancouver Island and get lost at a remote luxury cabin in the wilderness.

    3. For classical architecture, incredible art?

?stunning coastlines and private boat rides to dramatic coves consider Rome and the Amalfi Coast. Only a couple of hours transfer from Rome to Sorrento means a perfect match for a twin-centre. The scenery of this unforgettable region is unrivalled; along the coast road as it clings to the cliffs, winding along to picturesque Positano; or from the boats that ply their way to Capri ? one of the Mediterranean?s true jewels.

    4. For the Intimate Local Beach Resort?

Head to Unawatuna Bay in Sri Lanka for a no-frills village resort with intimate local beach restaurants and sunsets at the buddist stupa on the headland. Not far away some great excursions include the Pinewalla Elephant orphanage, the beautiful botanical gardens of Kandy and the tea plantations of the highlands.

    5. For sights, sounds and aromas?

Brazil is known for its beaches and has so many to chose from, but the Bahia region around the beautiful city of Salvador is one of the best. Greater Parental Stress Linked To Children's ObesityYour Health ...

    From The Sac Bee?..

Parents with a higher number of stressors in their lives are more likely to have obese children, according to a new study by pediatric researchers. Furthermore, when parents perceive themselves to be stressed, their children eat fast food more often, compared to children whose parents feel less stressed.

?Stress in parents may be an important risk factor for child obesity and related behaviors,? said Elizabeth Prout-Parks, M.D., a physician nutrition specialist at The Children?s Hospital of Philadelphia, who led a study published online today in the November issue of Pediatrics. ?The severity and number of stressors are important.?

Among the parental stressors associated with childhood obesity are poor physical and mental health, financial strain, and leading a single-parent household, said Prout-Parks. Although previous researchers had found a connection between parental stress and child obesity, the current study covered a more diverse population, both ethnically and socioeconomically, than did previous studies.

The study team suggested that interventions aimed at reducing parental stress and teaching coping skills may assist public health campaigns in addressing childhood obesity.

The researchers analyzed self-reported data from 2,119 parents and caregivers who participated in telephone surveys in the 2006 Southeastern Pennsylvania Household Health Survey/Community Health Database, conducted in Philadelphia and neighboring suburbs. The households contained children aged 3 to 17, among whom 25 percent were obese. Among the variables included were parental stressors, parent-perceived stress, age, race, health quality and gender of children, adult levels of education, BMI, gender, sleep quality, and outcomes such as child obesity, fast-food consumption, fruit and vegetable consumption, and physical activity.

Of the measured stressors, single-parent households had the strongest relationship with child obesity, while financial stress had the strongest relationship for a child not being physically active. Unexpectedly, neither parent stressors nor parent-perceived stress was associated with decreased fruit and vegetable consumption by their children.

However, this study was the first to find an association between parent-perceived stress and more frequent fast-food consumption by children. Fast food, often containing high quantities of fat and sugar, is an important risk factor for obesity and child health. The researchers speculated that parents experiencing stress may buy more fast food for the family, to save time or reduce the demands of meal preparation. The authors also suggest that actual and perceived parental stress may result in less supervision of children, who may then make unhealthy food and activity choices.

?Although multiple stressors can elicit a ?stressor pile-up,? causing adverse physical health in children, parent?s perception of their general stress level may be more important than the actual stressors,? the authors write.

Future research on child obesity should further examine other family behaviors and community factors not available in the current study, conclude the authors. In addition, ?Clinical care, research and other programs might reduce levels of childhood obesity by developing supportive measures to reduce stressors on parents,? said Prout-Parks. ?Teaching alternative coping strategies to parents might also help them to reduce their perceived stress.?

World sea piracy falls to lowest level since '08

Sea piracy worldwide fell to its lowest level since 2008 over the first nine months of this year as navies and shipping companies cracked down on attacks off the coast of Somalia, an international maritime watchdog said Monday.

The International Maritime Bureau said 233 attacks were recorded worldwide in the first nine months of this year, down from 352 in the same period last year. The bureau's piracy reporting arm, which is based in Kuala Lumpur, said 24 vessels were hijacked worldwide between January and September 2012, with 458 crew members taken hostage and six killed.

The numbers fell because attacks off Somalia's coast plummeted during that same period, from 199 last year to 70 this year. The bureau said only one Somali attack was reported in the entire third quarter of 2012.

Piracy soared in 2009 because of attacks off largely lawless Somalia, where pirates became more daring and desperate. Since then, pirates have been deterred by international navies, and by ships taking their own security measures, such as hiring armed guards.

    Somali pirates go high tech

    Hiding from creditors
A recent trip by Associated Press reporters to areas of the Somali coast once controlled by pirates found many of them hiding from creditors in unfurnished rooms. Rather than attacking cargo ships, they were playing cards, or catching lobsters.

"We welcome the successful robust targeting of pirate action groups by international navies in the high-risk waters off Somalia, ensuring these criminals are removed before they can threaten ships," said IMB director Pottengal Mukundan. But he added that the waters "are still extremely high-risk and the naval presence must be maintained."

Somalia pirate dens see decline as international efforts to stop seizures succeed

The bureau said piracy in Africa's Gulf of Guinea, ranging from Benin to Togo, was becoming increasingly dangerous, with 34 cases in the first nine months. It said the attacks were often violent, planned and aimed at stealing refined oil products.

Mukundan said 21 attacks were recorded in Nigeria alone, but he praised the country's navy for helping to rescue vessels. He said many navies in the vast gulf don't have resources to fight piracy far out at sea, allowing gangs to shift their operations to other areas.

Couple held hostage by pirates for 388 days to set sail on new journey

In Asia, the bureau said Indonesia reported 51 attacks in the first nine months this year, up from 46 for the whole of 2011. It also warned ships to be alert in Malacca Straits, South China Sea and around Malaysia; each of those areas has reported a hijacking this year.

Booted Dung Beetles Reveal Clever Cooling [Video]

    dung beetle

    Credit: Jochen Smolka, Lund University

Anyone who?s been to the beach on a hot day knows the feeling of scorching sand underfoot. But do beetles that cross the sunny savanna or dwell in the desert feel it, too? Biologists have found that not only do dung beetles?which famously feed on feces rolled across the sand until it becomes a smooth sphere? feel the burn, their snack lets them beat the heat.

Dung beetles such as Scarabaeus (kheper) lamarcki typically select a pile of poo, often from a local herbivore, then roll it in a straight line to escape competitor beetles as quickly as possible. Along the way, the beetle occasionally clambers up, stretches out its head, rotates 360 degrees, and repeats?a maneuver referred to as the orientation dance (it?s hard to know you?re moving in a straight line when your head?s down and you?re pushing a ball). Biologists at Lund University in Sweden and the University of Witwatersrand in South Africa were studying this behavior in an effort to understand the insect?s visual navigational skills only to discover that the treasured dung ball serves as a sort of portable AC unit.

The scientists were observing S. lamarcki?s natural behavior when they noticed that around noon each day, beetles would climb up and begin preening?as you can see in the video below.

To test whether the heat might be affecting the beetle?s behavior, the scientists set up an experiment in which beetles rolled their dung balls at midday in either a well-shaded or sunny arena. They found that dung beetles in the hot arena climbed up on their ball more often, swiping at their faces and body.

Next, researchers decided to test whether the beetles climbed to get their feet off of the hot sands. In a bold scientific and sartorial experiment, they affixed dental silicone ?boots? on the beetles? front legs. When comparing boot-wearing to barefoot insects, the scientists found those in boots climbed up 35 percent less often and could push their dung ball for about twice as long without taking a break.

But what exactly does the dung ball do? For one, dung is moist, meaning as it rolls along it loses heat through evaporation. In other words, the same principle?evaporative cooling?that works in your AC, is at work here?albeit in a more portable format. Thermal video footage confirmed that the typical dung ball was distinctly cooler than either the beetle itself or the ground. In addition, the scientists found that beetles climbed up the dung ball significantly more often if the ball was heated (left in the sun for half an hour) as opposed to chilled (set in the freezer), which suggests the ball may also cool the sands as the beetle rolls it, giving the insect?s feet a little extra relief. The result, as the researchers call it, is a ?mobile thermal refuge.?

The findings are published today in the journal Current Biology. Whether more beetle boots are in the research group?s future remains unclear. Jochen Smolka, a biologist at Lund University and an author of the study, notes that putting on the boots was easier said than done: ?It?s actually hard to put them on their legs and hold out their forearms?they have very strong forearms.? For future studies, other beetle apparel is a distinct possibility?the scientists have also used dental silicone (which can be easily applied and peeled off without harming the insect) to fashion ?blinders? for vision tests. ?This group has a history of creating clothing for beetles?we?ve already created caps?it will be interesting to see what comes next,? Smolka says.

7-Day Diet Weight Loss Cabbage Soup - Divas Can Cook

    • ~TIPS~
    • Jazz it up by adding lots of spices, herbs and a variety of veggies.
    • This makes enough for about 3 days.
    • Keeps well in the fridge for about 3 day.

I?m going to Disneyland next week and decided that I didn?t want to take my muffin top with me, especially since I have this cute form fitting top that I want to wear so bad WITHOUT SPANKS!! When I need to lose my gut or 10 pounds quickly I turn to 3 diets that never lets me down; my smoothie diet, The 17 Day Diet (review coming soon) and my newest love, the 7-day diet!!

I know some people HATE these kinda diets but I love them! They work well for me and the weight stays off as long as you eat a healthy, balance diet afterwards. I never do though since I mainly use these diets for quick weight loss for an event, the week before Thanksgiving, or ?to jumpstart my spring dieting before swimsuit season.

OK so let?s talk about the 7-day diet!! It?s an old diet that has been around for YEARS and revised over and over again. You are likely to find several different version online. ?Lately these 7-day diets have become really popular. Even Dr. Oz has one. I first read about it on Justin and Ashley?s blog (she answers a lot of questions about this diet so if you have them, check out her FAQS section) I think this diet is a great cleanse because I always feel so refreshed and clean inside and out afterwards.

wonder soup recipe weight loss soup recipe cabbage soup diet

I NEVER thought I?d like this soup, but it?s so good!

On the 7-day diet you follow a certain eating plan everyday. Along with eating these specific foods you are allowed to have cabbage soup aka wonder soup aka weight loss soup aka miracle soup aka weight watcher soup whenever you?d like. ?This is what drew me to the 7-day diet because I love that I can eat this soup in unlimited quantities. I HATE being hungry and I will not stick to any kind of diet if I?m hungry. Point. Blank. Period. Don?t forget you MUST drink 8 glasses of water each day. My results vary if I slack on water, but 8-10 pounds is what I usually lose.

Now about this weight loss Cabbage Soup (Wonder Soup), the website (my7daydiet.com) says you should boil the vegetables in water, uh?no ma?am!! I?ve always used chicken broth or vegetable broth with seasoned canned tomatoes and it has never hindered my weight loss. There is NO WAY I would be eating this soup everyday if I made it according to the recipe on the site. Yuck! ?Throughout the diet I also use salt, pepper, lots of herbs & seasonings, olive oil, and a tad of butter. I also add 0-5 calorie flavorings to my water to make sure I get in all my water. These changes have never affected my results.

So here is a brief overview of the diet plan. ?Get more details on my7daydiet.com

Day 1- Eat nothing but fruit today (except for bananas) and as much of the diet cabbage soup as you?d like. I like to eat baked cinnamon apples in the morning, a large fruit salad and cabbage soup for lunch, and cabbage soup and a melon salad for dinner. I snack on fruit throughout the day, usually frozen berries, grapes and watermelon.

Day 2- Eat nothing but vegetables (except corn or other starchy veggies). However, you do get to start the day with a baked potato. You will LOVE having this baked potato trust me! I never thought I?d be so happy to eat a baked potato in the morning! I put a tad bit of salt and butter (I cheat) on the potato along with some broccoli and tomatoes. For lunch I do the cabbage soup and salad sprinkle with salt, pepper and olive oil. This is actually pretty good. For dinner I do mashed cauliflower topped with a stir fry.

Day 3- ?Today you eat fruits AND veggies (except bananas, corn and other starchy veggies) You also don?t get a potato today, sucks! I just do a repeat of day one and two for my foods.

Day 4- Today you eat only bananas and milk/yogurt. This is the DUMBEST day by far. I hate it. You can only have bananas and milk. I eat bananas, rice milk, almond milk and yogurts and of course the miracle soup. It?s not that difficult, but if you hate bananas I feel sorry for you boo.

Day 5- ?Today eat only tomatoes (6-8) and protein like fish, turkey and chicken. I had no problems with this day since I love meat and was happy to get it! I had wonder ?soup for breakfast and added extra tomatoes since I don?t like tomatoes plain that much. For lunch I had grilled chicken topped with tomatoes seasoned with salt, basil, pepper. For dinner I had more wonder soup, but I add ground seasoned turkey to it. Very filling. I got tired of the soup on this day.

Day 6- ?Today it?s protein and veggies- Unlike yesterday you can have other veggies besides tomatoes. I had a salad for breakfast seasoned with olive oil, spices, salt and pepper. For lunch I had a stir-fry with chicken, spices and veggies (so good) for lunch I had a spaghetti squash with pasta sauce and ground turkey. I think spaghetti squash is off limits but I had to have it! (it didn?t effect my weight loss) Today was so yummy! lol

Day 7- ?Today it?s just fruits, vegetables, and juices. Booo!!! I hated this day because I wanted more meat, but I was glad it was the last day. The scale says I?m 7 pounds lighter this morning so that was great to see. I feel clean inside. I?m hungry today though. REALLY HUNGRY!

Day 8- 10lbs down this morning and I can see it!!

Watch me make this Weight Loss Cabbage Soup Recipe (Wonder Soup) from start to finish!

Armstrong says last few weeks 'difficult'

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) ? Lance Armstrong greeted about 4,300 cyclists at his Livestrong charity's fund-raiser bike ride Sunday, then retreated into privacy as cycling officials get set to announce if they will appeal his lifetime ban and loss of seven Tour de France titles ordered by the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency.

Armstrong spoke briefly at the sunrise start of the ride, telling the crowd he's faced a "very difficult" few weeks. But he did not otherwise mention USADA's report detailing evidence of performance-enhancing drug use by Armstrong and his teams or the sanctions.

International Cycling Union (UCI) President Pat McQuaid has scheduled a Monday news conference in Geneva where he's expected to announce if the sport's governing body will accept or appeal the sanctions to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

"I've been better, but I've also been worse," Armstrong, a cancer survivor, told the crowd, repeating a line from his remarks at Livestrong's 15th anniversary celebration Friday night.

Armstrong wore a black t-shirt instead of the charity's signature yellow derived from the yellow jerseys given to the winner of the Tour de France.

"Live strong, be safe," Armstrong said before the first riders left the gate.

Armstrong stepped down as chairman of Livestrong on Wednesday. That same day, most of his personal sponsors, including Nike and brewing giant Anheuser-Busch, dropped their contracts with him or said they would not renew when current deals expire.

USADA has said Armstrong should be banned and stripped of his Tour de France his titles for what the agency called "the most sophisticated, professionalized and successful doping program that sport has ever seen" within his U.S. Postal Service and Discovery Channel teams.

The USADA report said Armstrong and his teams used steroids, the blood booster EPO and blood transfusions. The report included statements from 11 former teammates who testified against Armstrong.

Armstrong denies doping, pointing to hundreds of passed drug tests. But he chose not to fight USADA in one of the agency's arbitration hearings, saying the process was biased against him. Former Armstrong team director Johan Bruyneel is also facing doping charges, but he is challenging the USADA case in arbitration.

Tour de France director Christian Prudhomme is waiting on the UCI's decision before removing Armstrong's name from the record books as the race prepares to celebrate its centenary edition next year.

Armstrong won consecutive Tours from 1999-2005. Prudhomme said the Tour will have no official winners for the seven races Armstrong won if he is stripped of his victories by the UCI.

USADA has said the Tour titles should not be given to other riders who finished on the podium. The agency said 20 of the 21 riders on the podium in the Tour from 1999 through 2005 have been "directly tied to likely doping through admissions, sanctions, public investigations" or other means. It added that of the 45 riders on the podium between 1996 and 2010, 36 were by cyclists "similarly tainted by doping."

Several riders at Sunday's event, which organizers said raised $1.7 million, said they support Armstrong completely or separate his cycling career from his charitable work. Livestrong has raised about $500 million to fight cancer and support victims since it was founded in 1997.

"If he did it, he should face the consequences," said Sonya Garrison, who was riding in memory of her grandfather and to support a friend with cancer. "But this is for the cause. More people are here for the cause than just for him."

Rider Steve Weinberg said he's "still a Lance fan" regardless of the doping charges.

"I think everyone was doing it back then," Weinberg said, noting Armstrong's passed drug tests. "That whole thing needs to go away."

PFT: Roethlisberger expected to play Sunday

Atlanta Falcons v Washington RedskinsGetty Images

While the 22-year-old quarterback is generating all the attention, the Redskins are also benefitting from the continued excellent production of a 37-year-old linebacker who never seems to slow down.

Of course, linebacker London Fletcher is in many ways the anti-Robert Griffin III. He?s not flashy or able to wow you with extreme athleticism.

But just like with RG3, the plays keep getting made.

Giants left guard Kevin Boothe, who will see Fletcher up close tomorrow, called him the ?ageless machine? and said keeping a body on Fletcher is a priority.

?Every time we?re getting ready to play them, it always seems like No. 59 is the guy getting off the pile,? Boothe said, via Alex Marvez of FoxSports.com. ?That?s going to be the key Sunday. Somehow, we?ve got to get him blocked and neutralize their front seven guys.?

Not many people have effectively done that.

Over 15 seasons and 230 consecutive games (most of any active player), Fletcher?s been a steady contributor for the Rams, Bills and Redskins. With more than 1,600 tackles in his career, and 54 already this season, he?s showing no signs of slowing down.

But his leadership role is as important, as the Redskins defense has lost key parts Brian Orakpo and Adam Carriker already this season.

?I think the defensive coaches have taken advantage of the strengths of the other guys who have replaced them,? Fletcher said. ?There have been some situations where we?ve had to play a couple of different guys in different roles to replace the guys we?ve lost.

?With that being said, the guys have accepted the challenge in the roles that they?re playing and they?ve played them well.

Fletcher?s in the middle of all that, but he?s also mentoring on the other side of the ball, saying he?s had many conversations with his young quarterback.

?We talk about a lot of things,? Fletcher said. ?The best advice I?ve told him is that with a lot of stuff, you?re just going to have to experience it yourself. I can tell you one thing but experience is the best teacher sometimes.?

And experience is the one thing Fletcher can speak from, and impart important lessons RG3 should file away.
