FAYETTE, MO. (MSM Sports Media) - A raucous crowd of over 400 people were on hand Saturday morning to watch the Central Methodist University men?s and women?s crosss country teams each placed second in the Gary Stoner Invitational.
In the women?s 5k, Central Methodist displayed its best performance of 2012 with a season-low combined team-time by over one minute (1:37.03). All finish times by the Eagles? top seven in the race now rank on the school?s all-time top 20.
Elise Schrieber took 12th place in 19:12, which ranks ninth all-time in school history. Amber Beaverson placed 15th in 19:16, good for 10th all-time. Tabatha Dickey finished 16th in 19:22 and now ranks 11th best in CMU history.
Taylor Beaverson crossed the finish line in 20th place in a time of 19:30. Hailey Breusch came in 22nd place in 19:42. Emily Neally took 26th place in 19:54. Adriana Romero placed 29th in 20:02.
In the men?s 8k, the Eagles? top four finishers scored times that rank among the 25 best in school history.
Central Methodist?s Chris Renteria finished 10th in a time of 25:56. His mark passed Colby Lapresi by one second for sixth on CMU?s all-time list. Colby Lapresi took 15th in 26:20. Tyler Meierarend finished 22nd in 26:48. Brett Davis took home 25th place in 27:06. Ryan Dickson was 43rd in 28:02. Bryan Groeper came in 49th in 28:21. Michael Witten placed 53rd in 28:31. Ryan Farrell was 54th in 28:32.
The Eagles will participate in the NAIA Mid-States Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 20.
