CoStar's People of Note (Oct. 28-Nov. 3) - CoStar Group

It's time to update those contact managers with CoStar's People of Note, reporting news on significant new CRE hires and promotions. This week, the following companies announced personnel moves: Avison Young, Hines, Opus Development Corp. and Newmark Grubb Knight Frank.

This week's People of Note includes the following markets: Boston, Dallas/Fort Worth, Denver, San Francisco and St. Louis.

BOSTON
Capital Markets Team Joins Avison Young in Boston

Avison Young expanded its capital markets business in the New England region with the hiring of three industry veterans. The Boston team gained (pictured from left to right) Michael Smith and Scott Jamieson as principals and Brandon Dickason as a vice president.

The trio previously worked at Jones Lang LaSalle in Boston. The team focused on investment sales, acquisition and financing and closed more than $15 billion in deals since the early 1990s.

The group?s client list consists of Blackstone, Archon Group, INVESCO, RREEF, Principal Global Investors, Equity Residential, New Boston Fund and Rockwood Capital. Their transactions of note include One Boston Place, the Sun Microsystems Campus, One Kendall Square and CityPlace I.

SAN FRANCISCO
Hines Names McCarthy Senior Managing Director

Hines promoted Managing Director Mary McCarthy to a senior managing director in its west regional office in San Francisco. McCarthy is a member of the commercial real estate company?s capital markets group. Her focus is raising finances for the Hines U.S. Office Value Added Fund II and Hines International Real Estate Fund.

McCarthy, who began her tenure at Hines nearly seven years ago, works with major U.S. pension consultants and investors, and is a member of the firm?s capital markets committee. She is also in charge of certain securities-related aspects of private placements for Hines Securities Inc.

The seasoned professional gained working experience through the real estate investment banking department of Morgan Stanley. She also served at Copley Real Estate Advisors, ING Clarion Partners and CBRE Investors.


DALLAS/FORT WORTH
NAI Robert Lynn Hires Romada as EVP

Kornel Romada joined NAI Robert Lynn Fort Worth as executive vice president. He will focus on building the office?s retail tenant representation division and landlord representation in the Fort Worth/Tarrant County retail market.

The Texas-based broker is a specialist in business development and team management with more than six years of senior level experience in the commercial real estate and health care industries.

He recently served five years at the Woodmont Co. as the assistant vice president of leasing, and landlord and tenant representation. His transactions of note involved Kohl?s, ULTA, Charming Charlie, Kirkland?s, AT&T, T-Mobile, Mattress Firm and Olive Garden.

Romada also worked as a vice president at Wellspring Healthcare for one year and nearly three years as a United States Tennis Association tennis professional.


ST. LOUIS
Opus Development Opens St. Louis Office

Opus Development Corp. will open an office in St. Louis, MO to capitalize on renewed activity in the market.

The firm brought on Joe Downs as senior director of real estate development. In his new role he will be responsible for leading the charge for new business opportunities across all commercial property types and sectors including higher education and government.

Downs joined the group from The Love Cos. where he served as vice president and was responsible for real estate development, investment and management for clients including Limestone Real Estate Investment Fund and Heartland Bank. Before that he was at Opus Northwest working on the design-build side of the business in the Minneapolis and St. Louis markets.


DENVER
NGKF Taps Simpson as Director of Management Services

Dan Simpson, LEED AP joined Newmark Grubb Knight Frank as director of management services. Simpson will oversee the operations and performance of the firm?s 7.2-million-square-foot management portfolio in the Denver area.

The 17-year property management veteran previously worked at CBRE as director of asset services supervising a 1 million-square-foot portfolio. He also performed a similar function for Clarion Realty Services before it was purchased by CBRE five years ago.
